Why should I exercise?

I am writing this blog as I feel that millions of people around the world must have been in a similar position to me 8-9 years ago. I had not ever stepped foot in a gym or exercised out of enjoyment apart from playing casual football/cricket.

At first going to the gym I felt uneasy as I was extremely skinny around 57kg at 5 foot 7. I then started to become more consistent by going 4-5 times a week and I started to see results. The results initially motivated me as my weight increased and following this the exercise within the gym was like an addiction/drug. The endorphins that I would feel through working out during and after my session would generally put me in a great mood for the rest of the day and leave me being and feeling more productive.

The difficult part about this is that there will be days where you don’t want to work out and those are the days which feel most satisfying during and after your exercise as you feel as though you have mentally beat your former self and this allows you translate this mental toughness into other avenues of life. Whether it be school revision for exams, preparing for job interviews or even real life problems you are facing.

This allows your mind to expand, provides different perspective on how you can tackle different problems as the endorphins allow you to feel more positive and apply different approaches.

The main reason for me writing this blog is that I feel that even one person out there may be struggling to want to change by exercising in the gym as they might think what will people think? But at the end of the day no one is concerned about you as they are more concerned with themselves.
